Jesse A. Murray is the Canadian author, poet, and educator behind Off the Field Publishing. 

When Jesse sat down to write his debut novel Love or Baseball?, he never thought about what his plan was to get published. However, as he was finishing his manuscript, he found that many ideas and possibilities started to take on a life of their own. For instance, he knew what he wanted the book cover to look like. So one day, he went out with a camera and took some photos. In that photo collection, he had what he needed to design the cover, and then he designed both the paperback and hardcover versions himself.

Step by step, Jesse continued to have fun writing, taking photos, and designing for a variety of projects—including a logo that he immediately wanted to put on clothing—and without even realizing it, Off the Field Publishing was born.

Jesse’s creativity continued to flourish. Within six years, seven books have now been published by Jesse A. Murray and Off the Field Publishing: Love or Baseball? (2018), I Will Never Break (2020), Never Found (2021), Not Here To Stay (2021), Back Home (2022), Falls Into Place (2022), and Never Stop Skating (2024). As Jesse’s library continues to grow, Off the Field Publishing will continue to allow him to explore his creativity at each step of the process. What once started off as a quest to write a novel, ultimately became so much more.

Jesse A. Murray was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and that’s where he continues to teach high school, write, and create.
